Privacy and cookies
What this shop knows about you.
Almost nothing, and that is a design decision rather than an accident. This page says exactly what is collected, by whom, and what you can turn off.

The short version
This site has no accounts, no logins, no passwords, and no customer database. It does not store your name, your email address, your postal address, or your order history. There is nothing here to leak, because there is nothing here.
Two things do involve other companies, and both are described in full below: Stripe handles payment and shipping details when you buy something, and Google Analytics counts visits. Analytics is the only one you can switch off, because it is the only one that is not part of actually sending you a lamp.
What this site stores about you
Nothing. Not on our servers, not in a database, not in a file.
When you buy something, your name and shipping address are typed into a page hosted by Stripe and stay with Stripe. They are never copied onto our servers. When something is sold out and you press Tell the maker you want this, that sends a message saying a product was asked about — no email address is requested, because none is wanted.
The one thing counted is that an add-to-cart happened, so the shop knows whether anyone is out there. That count is tied to a random token created by your browser, which is mixed with the date and the product and stored only as an unreadable hash. It cannot be linked back to you, and it cannot even be linked to yesterday's count, because the hash changes every day by construction. Those rows are deleted after 90 days.
Cookies and browser storage
Two different things get used, and they are worth telling apart. Local storage keeps information on your device and never sends it anywhere. Cookies are sent to whoever set them.
| Name | Kind | What it is for | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| h3d-cart | Local storage | What is in your cart. Product codes and quantities only. | Until you clear it |
| h3d-cart-zip | Local storage | The ZIP code you typed, so shipping can be quoted next time without asking again. Only ever a ZIP you typed yourself — one worked out from your device's location is used once and never saved. | Until you clear it |
| h3d-pending-order | Local storage | What you were buying, carried from the cart to the confirmation page. Deleted as soon as it is read. | Minutes |
| h3d-visitor | Local storage | A random token with no meaning, used so one person adding to a cart twice is not counted as two people. Never sent anywhere in its raw form. | Until you clear it |
| h3d.consent | Local storage | Your answer to the analytics question on this page, so you are not asked twice. | Until you clear it |
| _ga, _ga_<id> | Cookie (Google) | Google Analytics. Distinguishes one browser from another so a returning visit is not counted as a new one. Only set if analytics is on. | Up to 2 years |
Everything beginning h3d is local storage that this site needs in order to work as a shop — a cart that forgets what you put in it is not a cart. None of it is sent to us or to anyone else, and none of it identifies you.
Google Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC, to understand how many people visit and which pages and products get used. It is the only third-party measurement on the site. There is no advertising, no ad pixel, no remarketing, no profiling for advertising, and no data is sold or shared for advertising purposes.
What it collects
- Pages viewed, and when
- Approximate location, worked out from your IP address — typically the city or region, not an address
- Browser, operating system, device type and screen size
- Where you arrived from, such as a search engine or a link
- Shop actions: viewing a product, adding to the cart, removing from it, starting checkout, and completing an order
Shop actions carry the product code, the product name, the quantity and the price. They deliberately never carry anything you typed. A personalised trainer code, a name, an email address, a ZIP code or a shipping address is never sent to Google — not in any form, hashed or otherwise. Completed orders carry the order reference issued by Stripe, which is an order number and nothing about you.
How it works, and how to read more
If analytics is on, Google sets the cookies named in the table above and uses them to tell one browser from another. Google processes that data on our behalf and also for its own purposes as described in its own policies. Google may transfer and store this information on servers in the United States; that transfer relies on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and on Google's standard contractual clauses.
For what Google does with the data, read How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and the Google Privacy Policy. Google also publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics everywhere, not just here.
Google deletes the detailed data on a schedule: event-level records after 2 months, and user-level records after 14 months. The 14-month clock restarts if you visit again. Aggregated totals — how many people saw a page in a month, with nothing attached to any one visitor — are not on that schedule and remain in Google's reports.
Whether it is on by default
It depends where you are, because the law does. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, nothing is stored on your device until you say yes — the analytics cookie is blocked before the page even loads it, and you are asked. Everywhere else, including the United States, analytics is on unless you turn it off below. Either way the control on this page decides, and you can change your mind at any time.
Your choice
This setting applies to this browser on this device. Turning analytics off also deletes the Google Analytics cookies this site can see.
The control here needs JavaScript, which is currently off. With JavaScript off, no analytics runs at all — Google Analytics is JavaScript, so there is nothing to switch off. You can also block cookies for this site in your browser's settings, or install Google's opt-out add-on.
Payments, shipping, and Stripe
Checkout happens on a page hosted by Stripe. Your name, email address, shipping address and card details are given to Stripe, not to this site. This site never sees your card number and never receives a copy of your address; orders are read in Stripe's own dashboard.
Stripe processes that information to take the payment, to prevent fraud, and to meet its own legal obligations. Read the Stripe Privacy Policy for what it does with it. Hugentobler3D LLC is the merchant of record for your order and keeps the records that tax and consumer law require, inside Stripe.
To quote postage, the ZIP code you enter is sent to the United States Postal Service to get a rate. It is sent on its own, with no name attached, and USPS is not told who is asking.
Reviews
The reviews on this site were written on Etsy and are already public there. They are read through Etsy's API and shown as they were written, with the reviewer's own display name. Nothing about a reviewer is collected here, and reviews cannot be left on this site.
Your rights
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the GDPR gives you the right to ask what personal data is held about you, to have it corrected or erased, to object to or restrict its processing, and to receive it in a portable form. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
For analytics, the lawful basis is your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time using the control above — withdrawing is exactly as easy as granting, and takes effect immediately. Withdrawing does not affect anything processed before you withdrew.
In practice most of these rights have very little to bite on here, because this site holds no personal data of its own. A request about your order is a request about data held by Stripe, and a request about analytics is a request about data held by Google; write to the address below and it will be passed on and answered.
If you are in California or another US state with a privacy law, the same applies: no personal information is sold or shared, there is no targeted advertising, and no profile is built about you.

If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. A change that affects what is collected or who receives it will reset the analytics question rather than being applied quietly.
